memorial/tribute/biography/ created 2022 by Cora's great-granddaughter, Tammy Stafford-Bellflower ------------------ I was (along with my brother, Timmy Lee Stafford 1966-2004) raised by Cora's daughter, Ethel (Biggs) Stafford, and Ethel's husband, Van D. Stafford. My grandparents talked often about Cora's life to me and my brother. ------------------- When Cora Liza Rush was born on February 1, 1891, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, her father, Charlie Rush 1871-1936, was 20, and her mother, Mary M (Stafford) Rush B:1874-1958, was 16. She had one son and three daughters with Woody C. Biggs B:1884-D:1974. She then married Lorenzo Dow Stafford Sr. B:1858-D:1940, and they had five children together. She died on February 22, 1964, in her hometown at the age of 73. Burial: Denson Cemetery in Gainesboro, Jackson County, Tennessee. (A Note about Cora, Woody, and Lorenzo Dow Sr.) Cora and Woody were divorced at one time - Cora married her son-in-law's (Van) grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Stafford Sr. 1858–1940, and had children from that marriage - later, Cora and Woody remarried. Woody had married two other times and had children from those marriages.
